Gargoyles Winter Special 2025

When I went to All C's yesterday to find a holiday comic to review, none of the choices really interested me. Then I saw that they had their Wednesday releases up, but covered up to hide the covers. I asked if it was ok for me to peek behind to see what they would be offering and the girl said sure. It felt like I was being sneaky and shaking a Christmas gift to see what was in it. The third one I checked turned out to be this Gargoyle comic. I knew right then that I would be returning today to get it.

I had no idea what was inside (art work or story line). All I knew was that it said winter special (not holiday, key point) and that it was from a series I have loved since I was a kid. 

It was a winter tale in that it was snowing in the comic, but the winter part had nothing to do with the overall plot and did nothing to drive any parts of the story forward. The story would have been the same if it took place during the summer.

The story was ok, but not really good enough for a "winter special." The story does have some morals around trying to make up for your past. The story looks at what was supposed to be her first case as a cop, but it felt awkward. In the text she talks about how it always bugged her that they hadn't been able to solve the disappearance, but they never talk about specifically why and it just didn't fit into the overall Gargoyles story when you try to line it up with either the TV show or other printed material.

The art work was ok. Nothing stood out as either good or bad.

Overall, I was disappointed with this comic. The story just didn't flow well and it wasn't wintery even with it taking place during the winter.
