June Smaller Geeky Events (2025)

28th:
Pokémon Go Fest
I learned about this event from an article (https://kdvr.com/news/local/pokemon-go-fest-to-be-held-in-aurora-at-start-of-summer/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLAeT9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHkUeaj9R_lOipL4vcmFpWlN17209vaTZv0n473ysR-nrrczsxs_ofBoQx9OP_aem_JhQnq7ltvag1nL1VN15Z0g) that had been reposted on one of the local Pokémon Facebook groups that I follow. The event turned out to be much smaller then I expected. The group organizing it had a bucket of water bottle, but there were no snacks. They did have one table set up with coloring sheets and a bucket where you could vote on a Pokémon mascot. There was a lot of people playing in the area so you could do the big raids, but that is normal for this park. We play there a lot. For something that was supposed to be organized, it didn't feel it. We left around 11:30m (it started at 10am) because of how boring it was.

Dino Double Feature
This movie double feature was at the Tallyn's Ranch Library and was cohosted with the Aurora History Museum to help advertise their new dinosaur exhibit. The first film was The Land Before Time and the second film was Jurassic Park. We only stuck around for the first film because we had to get over to the Night Market On Havanna. It was nice that they put up the captions and they also had free popcorn and waters for people. In the back of the room they also had some dino related crafts for the kids to do. The only negative thing about the screening was the chairs were hard plastic which were not very forgiving to the body. I kept pinching off nerves in my legs that made me scrum a lot. I had also forgotten how depressing The Land Before Time is, but Mommy Geek was happy.
