Batman - Santa Claus Silent Knight Returns (2024)
Since con season for 2024 is over I decided that for December we would hit the comic book coverage hard and focus on "holiday" themed comics. So I hit up All C's in Aurora to grab five different books. I be posting one review of these holiday books each week....unless I go buy more.
What attracted me to this specific comic was the cover art. It was clearly Christmas themed and when I opened it up the art work was good as well. (I'm making a point of this because I also saw a Karmpus comic that had beautiful art on the cover, but the inside art was of a style I just personally couldn't stand. This is why I always check inside to see if the art style stays the same.)
Trying to not give spoilers: The story starts out with action that draws you in quickly and makes you wonder what is going on. There is some reference to the characters having to work with Santa in the past, and this comic was set up in a way that I wanted more of that back story (I may try and find them during next year's comic shows). There was also a hint that Superman may have accidentally let loose some monsters when someone was controlling his mind and that the events of this comic may be tied with that. The comic was able to both build the story and have enough action to keep you interested at the same time. The comic ended this volume in a way that made me want more, good thing because I also picked up volume 2 (but that review will come in 2 weeks...) I would recommend this comic for someone that is both a geek and trying to have some holiday fun.
