September Smaller Geeky Events (2024): Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Shows
This month is not only full of gem, mineral and fossil shows, but they basically overlap on the days. This was kind of a bad idea since people will have to carefully decide how to spend their time when there is also so much other stuff going on. These shows should have at least staggered a little better.
9/5-9/24 Colorado Mineral and Fossil Show Fall 2024.
Free admission and parking. Below are some of my favorite finds. I was there on opening day 9/5.
I know that these have been manipulated (artificial), but the colors were so pretty and this box had such a diverse range of colors in it. |
I find it amusing when booths put their samples in water. For some, like these opals, it does make them stand out and show all of their colors. |
This show is in the Marriott Tech Center which has been the home to many cons over the years. This show managed to fill up every room normally used for con's on the main floor, booths in the hallways, and there were outside tents. The larger rooms had more then one dealer, but the smaller rooms was just one company. Most people ignored me as I walked around. I was dressed down and they really didn't seem to think that I could be worth their time to talk to. One table was different though. At the booth for GNEISS GUY mineral and fossils, a company from Canada, one of the workers actually came over and had a conversation with me. So this is a special shout out to them for having staff that do not look down on people based on how they dress. Their website is: https://gneissguy.ca/?srsltid=AfmBOopzbr1UlX0fgCIuZR7SeHZGc-_BBDp4YyeZV6iXODd4baSNHCM7
This was one of the larger specimens from the GNEISS GUYS booth. |
UPDATES FOR OTHER SHOWS WILL BE LOADED HERE AS OUR CHIEF GEEK ATTENDS THEM.
