Fort Collins Comic Con 2024: Getting Ready

Picture From: https://www.facebook.com/FoCoComicCon

This will be my first time both attending and covering this con, so I have no idea what to expect. The con will be held at the Fort Collins Senior Center. This is South West of the main campus if you are familiar with the area. Not too far from Gryphon Games and Comics (just to the North of the shop). There will be limited parking on site with additional parking near by at the park.

Not sure if there is a charge for on site parking, if you need accessible distance I would recommend that you get there early each day. Picture from: https://fococomiccon.com/faq/

Badges for kids are listed for $10 and adults $25. The event starts off on Friday at 3pm and Governor Jared Polis will be speaking during opening ceremonies. The last event I was at where he was going to speak it turned out to be just a recording, and it will be interesting to see if he shows up in person to get his geek on. Also their FAQ page said there wouldn't be any vendor/dealer's room hours on Friday (just Saturday and Sunday).

For food it looks like there is not food on site, but from google maps it looks like there is food close by (across the street). I know for people with disabilities this could be an issue. I do not know if you will be able to have food delivered to the building, but I would recommending either brining your own food or asking the staff what the rules are around the food. Nearby food includes Simply Thai, Subway, Burger King, Qdoba, Mod Pizza, and Tokyo Joe's.

I'm super excited to see how geek culture has developed in the Fort since I completed school at CSU (back in 2009). Back then geekiness was limited to a few shops and the anime club on campus. There were also a few D&D groups spread around town.
