2024 Free Comic Book Day: Getting Ready

Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday and many local businesses will be taking part. For those not familiar with Free Comic Book Day, it is a day when the comic industry creates sample (or even full comics depending on the company) comics for comic book stores, related stores, and organizations. These books are supposed to be free for all and stores are not allowed to charge for them. Some stores will "charge" a fee for more then a certain number of books or if you want the whole set and they say this is for charity. I think that this is a loop hole that Free Comic Book Day should address because there is no accountability or formal tracking of the stores doing this and I think that there does need to be more accountability for charges related to Free Comic Book Day comics. Just something to keep in mind.

Many stores will also be doing additional things like sales, food trucks, one store even listed that they would be giving out free coffee. Also remember to also buy something at each store you visit even if it is just something small if you are able to do so. This event is also a great way to support these small businesses that help us maintain our access to all of the geeky products we love.
