Rocky Mountain Con 2023: Saturday

If you are looking for something to do you can still catch Rocky Mountain Con tomorrow. We just covered today due to time constraints, but this con runs both Saturday and Sunday. The above sign should say November 11th and 12th.

Right by the ticket table you can see some of the spread of the dealers and comic book artists
One item that keeps getting more and more popular is 3D printed goods. This booth for example had some cool cup holders on sale for only $5, but be aware of what you buy. Some places will super upcharge on similar items. I always say that if there is something you want that is 3D printed, shop around first. I have seen prices to start to come down a bit as consumers are learning that 3D printed objects are really cheap to make.
There was a photo booth. This was taken looking out from it and the rest of the floor.
There were also capsule machines that had everything from fidget toys to little Pokémon.
Cap for Kids was there and they even had a Rocket there helping work the booth.
These were some of my finds at the con. Both the cup and mini dice tower are 3D printed objects and came from the above pictured booth. The cup is not food safe, but is meant to hold a can (it would have to be a skinny can like an energy drink). The Pikachu backpack was only $5 and needs a little cleaning, but it will have a good home. There was a wide variety of products and nearly all fandoms were represented.
Found a chance to get a close up of Rocket. At this size he wouldn't need to ride Groot.
They did have a few panels, but the offerings were super limited. Also if you notice the panels didn't have room numbers or locations. Luckily later in the day, someone wrote on them where each panel room was.
Some of my favorite cosplays I saw.. Having him nom on the helmet was really funny.

Some of the special guests that they had there.

One of the tings that caught my attention was in the lobby are there was a set up for Warhammer. I'm not as familiar with this fandom, but it was very interesting watching them set it up.

Some of the pieces were bought and some were home made out of painted foam and mosh. It made me think about how even some fish tank pieces I have seen could be of great use to help give more visuals to the game.

I took some time to talk to this artist. I was amazed at all of the time he had spent on world building. Like the detail that he had went in to making the star charts and the engineering that he was butting into the vehicles.

The Cap of Kids car.

For those not familiar with these types of cars, many times the inside is decorated to match the outside in some way. I loved how the Jurassic Park car had the shaving cream incubator from the first movie and a dino skull.

This is actually one of my favorite Itasha. Not because of the character, I'm not familiar with her at all, but because of the leaves on the car. This car had such a fall feel.

Panels

Itasha!
Notes:
-Itasha means 'painful car' and started in Japan.
-Itansha: term used for motorcycles and mopeds.
-These designs are also big in motorsports.
-Some of the top designers are: Hikame Designs, Whoozy's Wraps, and Abstract Design Studio.
-The designs last 4-5 years if kept in a garage and parked in the shade.
-Some insurance companies will cover damage to them as well.
-There are some people that will pick at them like they also pick at stickers and bumper stickers.

Overall:
I actually thought that this panel was really informative. I have been seeing these cars not only at cons for some time now, but around the city as well. In a way this is another high priced part of Otaku culture like ball jointed dolls. At the same time, the cost of BJDs are coming down due to how cheaply you can 3D print things now, so maybe as technology makes things cheaper the cost of these will go down. I would highly recommend that people either go to this panel or talk to the members of the group if they are thinking about doing this to their car.
