The Supernaturals Vol. 1 (of 4) (1998)
I picked up all four of these comics at one of All C's events this year. They felt really Halloweeny and at $1 each I decided to get them all.
This first volume was a super short read. The creators did a good job keeping up the speed so that you didn't get bored. The comic starts out in a graveyard with two kids trying to do some type of blood ritual to see their mom again, but the comic doesn't give you any background info on them or why they were doing it besides wanting to see their mom. Of course something goes wrong and not only does one of the brothers disappear, but so does a lot of superheroes. When it jumps to the present there are demons popping up that are being led by Jack O'Lantern, a pumpkin headed being with a glowing magical rock. I would give this first volume 4 stars out of 5, but I wish it was slightly longer with a little more detail and build up and also better product design (see below).
This comic book came with a free mask in it, but the problem is that they put it in the layers of the comic instead of the center. Because of this, you would need to take most of the comic apart to get the mask out. Bad design.
Inside the comic was also advertisements for movies and video games. Movies like the Bride of Chucky and Lost In Space. Video games included Small Soldiers (a CD-ROM game based off the movie), Parasite Eve (by Squaresoft), and even Pokémon.
