Eternals (2021)
Powerful immortal beings are sent to Earth on what most of them thinks is a mission to protect it's people, but it is not what they are really there for. This movie takes place in the Marvel universe after everyone that Thanos had killed comes back all at once and it is this sudden burst of life that causes the being within the Earth to start to awaken. It turns out that the Eternals are there to help humanity to grow enough so that they can feed the celestial being that is sleeping within the planet. At the same time, many of the Eternals have come to love Earth and it's people. The conflict is not only to save the Earth, but also between the Eternals since some of them want to follow the reason of why they were put on the planet.
Marvel now can get the top actors of our time, but even having good actors in this film could not save it. If you saw the previews you saw the best of the one liners. Whoever did the script writing for this film did a horrible job. On top of that this movie was also made too dark and depressing. What humor was it it did nothing to actually lighten scenes. These things made this one of those movies that you see once just to say you've seen it, but then you never watch it again.
The best part of this film was actually the creatures. They were both fluid and static at the same time. In the film they play both the part as one of the villains and also as a key in the Eternals learning their true purpose.
The special effects in this movie were good, but at the same time some was even unrealistic for a Marvel movie. SPOILER ahead. At the end of the movie where they have stopped the full emergence of of the celestial part of it is poking out into the highest parts of the atmosphere. This makes for striking imagery, but realistically that much weight on one spot of the Earth would mess with the planet's tilt and would mess with the planet being able to function in the future and would have other effects happen. Any major emergence like that would be unfixable and would be a major deal. At the end of the movie things return to a business as normal state in a way. In the past I felt like the Marvel movies at least tried to make some scientific sense while showing how actions could have irreparable results. This movie seems to throw all of that aside. I used to think that the first Ant Man movie was the worst Marvel movie, but now I think it is at least tied at the bottom with the Eternals. Ok, so maybe the Eternals are actually at the bottom now. 1 star or an F .
