Zom 100/Demon Slayer FCBD (2021)

 

This was one of the free comics from the 2021 Free Comic Book Day. It had a sample of two different Shonen Jump Manga. First was Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead and the other was Demon Slayer. 

For the Zom 100 it was a little funny that as the main character is starting to realize he is in a zombie apocalypse the first thing he is worrying about is being late for work and then he is very happy that he will never have to go to work again. I know I related to the character where he referred to his work life with "Yesterday, I saw the world as monochrome...just a black fog closing in on me." I think that many people have felt this about their work life where everything just seems to blend together. Even though there was not very much development in this sample it still made you slightly curious as to what would happen next. I don't think that I would spend money on this series, but if I saw it at my local library, I would check it out.

The second sample in here is of Demon Slayer. Demon Slayer is very popular, but this sample was not a good introduction to what the series is. They could have picked a better chunk of the manga to present. The only slightly amusing part is where you see her leg just sticking out of the box after she kicks the demon in the face.

As a sampler I would give it 3 stars out of 5 or a C mostly based on how much more interesting it made Zom 100 appear when compared to Demon Slayer. I think this sampler would have done better with slightly longer samples and an adjusted section of Demon Slayer.
