Daku Con 2022: Getting Ready

For those who are not in tune with the con scene in Colorado, you may not be aware that Colorado has a geeky con for people over 18. This adult only con is a place where adults can come together and not have to worry about anything coming up that could be bad for kids. At many of the normal cons both language and topics must be toned down to keep things family friendly, but not here. Yes there are still rules that must be followed, but it is a place where an adult can be an adult.

Basic Info

The con will be at the Crowne Plaza Denver Airport Convention Center (15500 E. 40th Ave, Denver, CO 80239) which has been the home to many geeky cons over the years. At present the hotel is currently sold out for the event. I couldn't find any info on if they are going to be charging for parking or not. I have seen it go both ways at this hotel, but at least they normally have enough parking for the size of cons they host.

For tickets you still have time to get prereg prices until Nov. 4th. Prereg prices range from $25-40 depending on what you want. After Nov. 4th prices jump to $30-50. So buy early if you want to go.

Face masks are required by all guests regardless of vaccination status since they will not be checking vaccination cards. A lot of cons this year are still requiring masks and it shows which cons are paying attention to the current covid numbers since covid continues to be a problem.

Cosplay

Even though this is an adult con you just can't run around nude. There are still laws about that. For this con you still need to wear what a bathing suit would cover, but we all know just how little some of those cover. I always say just don't wear something you would not wear around older family members and you should be fine. There will also be a costume contest.

Dealer's Room and Artist Alley

This is where some people will get the most shock value at this con. Last time I was here I had a conversation with a guy who was shocked to see so much adult "stuff" and images just in plain view with nothing covered up. Shoppers don't have to guess what is behind stickers or have to try to peak behind them.

Food

This area is actually a good area for cheap food within walking distance if you don't want to pay hotel restaurant prices. Some of the near by offerings include: Starbucks, KFC, Sonic, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Subway.
