5/9/22: "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Ticket Prices Upcharged at Major Chains"- I actually discovered this upcharging here in Colorado awhile ago for some movies. That's why we don't go to Northfield any more unless it is an older movie that they have stopped charging more for. Movie theaters already make massive amounts of money off tickets and the food is crazy. This past weekend when we saw the new Doctor Strange movie you could get a combo of a drink and popcorn for $16.96. Considering you can get an unlimited soda at McDonalds for $1 and it costs less then a dollar to make a bucket of popcorn, the theater was making $14 in pure profit. This is why I tell people don't buy concessions at movies. If people used their buying power to protest, theaters would have to look at what they are doing. Just say no and go to your movie. I also recommend that people hold off in seeing new movies and wait until the theater lowers the price to go. That will also show theaters that people do not approve of the higher priced tickets.
