Swamp Thing

 

Just caught the first 2 episodes of the new(?) Swamp Thing T.V. series. I question the new part. The CW has been advertising the series as new on T.V. and Xfinity currently only has the first 2 episodes up for people to view. When I did some digging it showed it as actually being released last year. I think they are billing it as new because it seems to have been over looked and they are hoping with people stuck at home due to covid that it might have a chance to get watched.

If you’ve seen any of the older Swamp Thing material I feel that it is staying true to the feeling of the previous work. It has been updated with CGI and I think that they did a really good job with it. All the moving plants were very well done. Then Sharknado guy popped up in the second episode. Then in episode 2 we meet the doctor responsible for the mess and it turns out to be Kevin Durand. He has the habit of staring in a lot of scifi/fantasy related shows/movies such as Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and The Strain. For this small amount of the series, it seems to be going well. I am not a Swamp Thing fan in general, but I would watch more of this series when I’m low on other things to watch. I may be willing to watch it just for Kevin Durand since his characters always seem to add something to the stories they were in. I’ll give updates as I see more. 3 stars out of 5 or a C.
