Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015)

 

I was expecting this movie to be really cheesy (which it did have those moments), but it was actually really good. One of the main kids you may recognize as Wade from Ready Player One (AKA Tye Sheridan). This one draws you into the characters and you actually hope they all live. It started off in a way where I just kept thinking that the one guy was going to be the cause of the zombie outbreak and I was right. These zombies are not the slow kind and even animals get in on the zombie action. The one scene with the zombie boobs I think was overdone, but I do see that as a teenager male's reaction. Then you have the scene where there is the Brittany Spear’s sing along with a zombie… yah… this film blends humor and horror together in a beautiful way. If you are looking for a lighter intro to the zombie film world this is a great one to start off with because of this blend. I find zombie movies fun to watch, but normally my mother does not. She actually liked this one as well. 5 stars out of 5 or an A+. I think this will be one I try to watch each October.

As a side note I found it interesting that I found 2 main covers/posters/advertisements for this movie. The first is the one above and the second is right below. I find it interesting that one has a female first approach while the other is male focused. I will admit for this movie the male first makes more sense since this movie focuses on the scouts. I actually don't understand why they put a side character on it at all besides trying to give the film some sex appeal for people who may be walking by.
