Zombie a Musical?

I noticed a pattern of zombie musicals in the last few years and even Disney has gotten in on the act.

Anna and the Apocalypse (2018)

Not only is this a musical, but it’s also a Christmas movie? Yes there are 2 zombie penguins and a zombie snowman…they were people in costumes for the holiday pageant. My favorite song was actually the inappropriate Santa song from the pageant. The rest of the music isn’t very catchy, but a crazy wannabe head master makes for some good entertainment. Even though this movie had some interesting moments, it seemed to take forever to get things going. 3 stars out of 5 or a C.

Zombies (2018)

Leave it to Disney to find a way to combine zombies and cheerleading…..not to mention high school romance. The good zombies in this reminded me of the movie Warm Bodies. The songs in this musical isn’t as good as other Disney musicals, such as Descendants. 4 stars out of 5 or a B.

Zombies 2 (2020)

This movie is actually much better than the first and you get to mix in werewolves to the plot. The singing numbers get much better and the dancing is great. Then the end leaves you thinking that there will be a third movie with aliens…this could explain the white hair, but we will have to wait to see. 5 stars out of 5 or an A.
