Snow Beast (1977)
So
parts of this movie actually mean more or make more since to me because of when
I saw this movie. I had just finished up my Colorado state history course where
I focused on state tourism for my final paper. When most people hear about a carnival
they think about pop tents, bright colors, specific types of food….but a ski
carnival is much different. Think like the X games or mini winter Olympics. Ski
carnivals are very important to ski towns because it could be the one time of
year where they have enough visitors to make any money. Because of this I can
understand some of the characters concern about letting people know that there
is a monster around. Even after people see it at the school, they still want to
but it off as a crazed bear. Yetis are white and normal mountain bears are not….I
wish there would have been more shots of the monster, but during the time
period that this movie was made the costumes for monsters were not modified
very much by special effects. This meant that either the costumes looked like a
pile of….or had to be amazing. Also if you are going Yeti hunting, always keep a gun with you, do not leave them in or on your trailer. The one really good close up of its face in a
window made me want to see it more. 3 stars out of 5 or a C. The acting was ok,
but the actors didn’t seem to portray any real emotions and their interactions
were lack luster.
