December 2019 Graphic Novel and Book Reviews
Here are all of my reviews from Good Reads for geeky novels and graphic novels (comics that have an ISBN). Comics will get their own posts since Good Reads blocks most comics without an ISBN from going on to their site. I have included the Good Reads link in case you want to lean more about them.
This was a
cute/quick introduction to strong female comic characters. I would recommend it
to everyone that has daughters. I know I will be holding on to my copy in case
I ever have kids. Some people complain about the costumes, but I find that they
cover much more than what you will see at your average pool. Also most of the
drawings go back to the original costumes that have not been shrunk in more
modern versions of these characters. I picked this book up at on of the
Jefferson County Library Foundation book sales. 5 stars out of 5 or A.
This book I actually found at the Dollar Tree on
Mississippi and Chambers. I’m still new to Pokémon Go and this book has been a
big help as I start my adventure. 5 stars out of 5 or A+.
This is the second book I have read in this series. The main character is supposed to be an anthropologist/archeologist and with my educational background I was drawn to the character. She reminds me more of Han Solo than an academic. This graphic novel I checked out from the Aurora Public Library. 4 stars out of 5 or a B.
Nothing really happens in this volume but the killing of characters. It needed something more to push the plot forward and it just could not deliver. I'm having a hard time staying interested in this series. This graphic novel I checked out from the Aurora Public Library. 2 stars out of D or C.
I
picked up this comic as trying to give Doctor Who another chance. I’ve tried to
watch the series and didn’t find it interesting. This comic was slightly
interesting, but not enough to pull me in. I keep hoping that I will find the
Doctor Who product that will, but I have to keep looking. This comic was just
o.k. Nothing stood out good or bad and that was why I just gave it an average
rating. This graphic novel I checked out from the Aurora Public Library. 3 stars out of 5 or C.
Even though I love Deadpool I just could not give it a perfect score. Learning more about his family was good, but I felt like there was a lot more that should have been covered for this comic to feel complete or the whole thing should have been cut into pieces and then those pieces expanded. The humor also felt a little low in this one. This graphic novel I checked out from the Aurora Public Library. 4 stars out of 5 or B.

I was so happy when I found out that they were still making Golden Books. I remember reading Golden Books as a kid and now they have new Star Wars ones out. These I found at the 2nd and Charles at Flat Irons Mall. They are a nice easy read for young children. 5 stars out of 5 or A for each.
