Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Before going to this movie I will admit that I did read other people’s
reviews and spoilers. I did this because
of all the rumors I was hearing about it being a horrible movie and even worse than
Episode I. After seeing the movie I can say that I disagree. I will fully admit
that I have an emotional link to Star Wars and I had tears in my eyes more than
once. At the same time there are things that they did with this movie I did not
like. It was visually stunning and most of the issues I have are with the plot.
SPOILER TIME: Why did you have to kill off Kylo/Ben? This basically means that
if a character goes to the dark side, as soon as they mend their ways they get
killed (just look at Darth Vader)…plus this means that the real Skywalker line
is dead. If they wanted to kill the movie chain, then they literally did it. Then
they kept teasing us with Finn finally admitting how he feels, but it never
makes it out. If you’re going to kill Ben then the least you could do is give
Finn his chance. The original had a love tringle that got broken into a final
pair and doing this would have brought some continuity from the first films to
the last 3 films. I will still give this movie 4 out of 5 stars or a B because
it was good in its own way, but parts of the plot could have been improved.
