The Comic Book Story of Video Games- The Incredible History of the Electronic Gaming Revolution (2017)

When I first picked up this book I was excited. The history of video games in a graphic novel format. The material/history provided in the book was very dense, but it was not a page turner. There are good facts, but I got very bored with it. I think it was just the writing style of the author and not the information. There was just better ways of presenting the information. As to the graphics….I will admit that I have been spoiled by Japanese manga, and I want good artwork. The art in this book looked like rough sketches that someone drew on a napkin. It looks like there was little if any digital clean up from the rough drawings they used. Then depictions of a person would change because of a lack of consistency in the drawing. This book was a great idea that was poorly carried out. I give this only a 2 out of 5 stars or a D. The concept had promise, but the actual book failed.
