Pokémon – Detective Pikachu (2019)

This movie was amazing and it made me want to go into my basement to pull all my old Pokémon items out of storage. When I first saw the previews for this movie I kept think “Dead Pool is Pikachu,” which is made even funnier because a year before this movie came out I had seen a Pikachu figure that was dressed as Dead Pool in the anime store at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs. I have read reviews of this movie that don’t rate it very high and I disagree with them. Some say that it had a predictable ending, but that is only if you pay attention (Spoiler?) to the fact that they never show the face of the kid’s father. Many of the people I talked to about the movie didn’t even notice this because during these scenes there is normally so much other stuff to catch the eye. I felt that this was actually well done. Don’t trust the bad reviews and give it a chance. I grew up on Pokémon and felt that this movie did the franchise justice. I give it 5 stars out of 5.

I saw it at the Harkins Theatres Northfield location. They were also giving out Pokémon cards with each movie ticket purchase. Then after the movie we went over to Menchie’s for ice cream and Pokémon had even taken over them. Then Burger King also has Pokémon toys now. Pokémon is on the rise again!
